Imagine you have a lot of critical work to complete. You are lazy and uninterested, and you can’t do it by the deadline. Imagine going through the entire day without even realizing what you were doing.
You only completed one task since you worked so quickly, but the quality is poor. It will be even more fashionable and sophisticated if you have a bit more time, and maybe you are not dull.
Have you ever experienced regrets like that?
So, try to say no and not live with regrets. The outcome will drastically vary if you make a small improvement. You will suffer several positive consequences for your work if you don’t procrastinate. Procrastination is as contagious as COVID. If you don’t fix it, you will have to delay your daily life, and you will often lose your happiness and habits.
For example, I was procrastinating from taking a shower to eating, and I arrived in the evening. Waking up late in the morning and eating breakfast and lunch together become habits, too. It’s a kind of regret that I have to work all day and then go to bed at night really soon.
Now you know the negative effects of procrastination.
If you’re tired of procrastinating and want to change your habits, I’ll tell you how to do it.
1. Change your habits
Correct your behavior first. It’s easy to say, but it’s really hard to fix. Start cultivating good habits. My advice for starters is to get enough sleep at night to be able to run with full energy throughout the day. Eat a lot of nutrients. Don’t miss breakfast. If you work or study, get out of bed. If you have a designated place to work, go to that place. Sitting straight and working will not cause slouching.
2. Report your progress
From procrastination to productivity, we need to cross the bridge of self-responsibility. Always report to someone what you did and what you accomplished today. If you don’t have someone to talk to, use Checklist apps.
3. Produce Sense of Urgency
There is a technique called the 5-second rule. I don’t feel like continuing to work, but if I get bored, I just say 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in my mind and get up right away. This work will be more effective if you always have a deadline, like the day after tomorrow.
4. Break Down Your Task
If you think in your mind that there is a lot to do, you will not be motivated, right? When I break it down into small sub-tasks, I do it casually and relax. It’s not possible when you are doing a lot of work. Take short breaks between tasks. Try something like the Pomorodo method. So, dividing the work into small tasks can lead to sleepless nights. It will be reduced more or less to doing a lot of close-ups.
It takes time to overcome procrastination. I have to take responsibility for myself. I had to stick with it to the end. So do appreciate the small progress that you have made. Friends, you can do it. Fighting!!!
